Vineyards of Galician wine cellar Adegas Castrobrey, Vila Cruces
Adegas –Galician for winery- Castrobrey is a family operation, founded by Jose Castro Brey in 1983, that has already involved three generations to illustrate the combination of traditional winemaking and modern techniques including cold maceration and controlled temperature fermentation in stainless steel vats. The winery is located in Vila Cruces, some 15miles southeast from Santiago de Compostela. Castrobrey sources quality albariño from their own 12-hectare vineyard by taking advantage of the warmer valley through authentic granite viticulture. Shallow upper and middle layers of quartz and iron-rich clay with a granite under layer deliver low yields of concentrated fruit.
